View Details

Get ready to roll into fall with a Halloween weekend built for women who love jiu-jitsu, adventure, and unforgettable camp energy. Fall Fright Fest brings together amazing training, good food, fun activities, and a room full of women who are here to train hard, laugh a lot, and make real memories together.

Why it’s special

Fall Fright Fest is where Halloween energy, women’s jiu-jitsu, and “girls trip” magic all collide for one weekend you’ll remember all year. It’s not a sterile training camp or a chaotic party trip; it’s a crafted experience built by women who understand how to balance high-level grappling with rest, play, and genuine connection. You get the detail-oriented planning and structure of a retreat with the fun, themed chaos of spooky season, so you can show up, train hard, and actually enjoy yourself without managing logistics.

What to expect

  • High-level jiu-jitsu instruction in a supportive women-focused environment.
  • Halloween-themed fun woven through the weekend experience.
  • Time to hang out, connect, and build friendships off the mats too.
  • A camp atmosphere designed to be memorable, energizing, and genuinely fun.

The vibe

Think: cozy horror movie marathon meets jiu-jitsu slumber party with a mat full of women who actually get you.

People come ready to train, but they also come ready to laugh, dress up, stay up a little too late, and make inside jokes that last long after camp ends. It’s welcoming and inclusive, not cliquey or intimidating, so you can show up solo and still leave feeling like you arrived with a built-in friend group.

The energy is playful, encouraging, and a little bit mischievous - exactly what a Halloween weekend should feel like.

The setting

Fall Fright Fest takes place at Vien Jiu Jitsu in Syracuse, New York, giving you a true “get out of town and train” weekend in a welcoming, women-forward environment.

The academy becomes home base for the camp where you’ll spend your days on the mats and your in-between moments grabbing coffee, hanging out, and connecting with other women who made the trip for the same reason you did.

Outside the doors, you get classic upstate New York fall vibes, so the whole weekend feels like a seasonal escape instead of just another seminar in your regular routine.

Who this is for

This camp is for women who train jiu-jitsu and want more than just reps; they want community, adventure, and a reason to get excited about their training again.

Whether you’re a newer white belt, a seasoned competitor, or a hobbyist who loves learning and traveling, you’ll find training partners and sessions that meet you where you’re at.

It’s especially perfect if you’ve been craving a space where you can be both serious about your jiu-jitsu and unapologetically yourself - goofy, dressed up, introverted, extroverted, or anything in between.

The theme

This year, Fall Fright Fest goes full Monsters on Vacation: classic horror meets girls trip. Think Universal-style monsters (Dracula, Bride of Frankenstein, swamp creatures) reimagined as if they finally took time off to relax, hit the mats, and get into some camp shenanigans.

Costumes, decor, and little surprises throughout the weekend will nod to that theme, so you can lean into it as much or as little as you want. Maybe it’s a full costume, maybe it’s just a themed rashguard or a silly accessory. The idea is fun, not pressure: you don’t have to be “crafty” to enjoy it.

A Weekend You’ll Talk About All Year

If you’ve been looking for a sign to say yes to yourself, to your training, and to a weekend that feels like the best parts of Halloween and jiu-jitsu rolled into one, this is it.

Fall Fright Fest is one of those camps people talk about for years, not just because of the techniques they learned, but because of the friendships, the late-night conversations, and the way they felt fully seen on and off the mats.

Grab your gi, your costume ideas, and your sense of adventure, and come spend spooky season with a room full of women who are just as obsessed with this sport as you are.
